REGISTRATION

Pilots should register and check in no later than 24 hours before the race on MultiGP.  You will need to check in to obtain your video frequency for the day. Please come with your video frequency setup before you arrive onsite.  Pilots must be able to change video frequencies during the mains portion of the race day.

RACE FORMAT

QUALIFYING

MGP Rule Book Event

RACE START

Pilots will be asked to give a thumbs-up if they have a clear video signal and are ready to start. Once all pilots are ready the start countdown will begin. Pilots are permitted to start motors prior to the race start but may not leave the launch stand until after the starting signal. Racers leaving the ground prior to the race start will be penalized 1 lap for that round unless they failed to complete a full lap.  A restart will be called if a mid-air collision involves more than one drone crashing out before the start gate.

RACE END

The timing system will call the end of race for each pilot.  In non-timed heads up racing such as mains, when the leader of the race crosses onto their last lap everyone crosses onto their last lap the next time they fly thru the start/finish gate.  Promptly land in the designated landing area after you have completed the race.

MALFUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT

In the event of equipment problems each pilot will receive a two minute “mercy minute” period to fix their equipment.  Please inform the race director if you need some time to make adjustments.

GATES & FLAGS

Pilots are not permitted to miss gates or flags. If a gate or flag is missed the pilot must turn around and successfully navigate the obstacle before continuing.  Any lap where a gate or flag is missed will not be counted. It is up to the race directors discretion if a gate or flag is damaged during the heat if a re-run will occur.  Any pilots crashed out before the re-run is called will not be allowed to re-run. Pilots can not enter a gate from the rear of the gate. Any pilot who enters a gate from the rear of the gate will be disqualified for that round.

SCORING

Scoring will be done via VTX based timing system.  Spotters are required for validating the timing systems lap count.  Pilots may challenge lap counts with personal DVR. In “buzzer beater” situations the timing system will be the decider and no challenges will be allowed.

EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS

WEIGHT AND PROPS

Open to quadcopters under 280mm and 800g AUW. 3" to 6" propellers only.

VIDEO/CONTROL TRANSMITTER

Video transmitters must be 40 channel, operate on the 5.8ghz spectrum, and are limited in power to 25mw.  Polarized antennas are suggested. We will use the IMD 6C frequency profile (R1, R2, F2, F4, R7, R8). Transmitters that broadcast out of their set frequency and power level will not be allowed to be used.  It is up to the pilot to know how their video transmitter works and how to change frequencies on it.  Crossfire must be set to “race mode”.

DJI is ALLOWED.  25mw limit.  You must distance yourself from analog pilots.  DJI pilots MUST record their own DVR on an SD card and produce it if needed.  If a DVR review is not possible your round will not count.  More on this as we go through the season.  Be aware that we will do everything possible to make DJI work at Full Tilt but depending on your setup we can not guarantee you will be able to fly all heats or fly with other pilots.

HD Zeros is ALLOWED.  HD Zero pilots must record their own DVR and produce as needed.  If a DVR review is not possible and a review is needed your round will not count.

SAFETY

SAFETY INSPECTION

Aircraft will be subject to a safety inspection before being allowed to fly.  If a fire is called during a race all pilots should land immediately and the heat will be re-run.

FLIGHT LINE

Pilots will not be permitted to cross the flightline while aircraft are in the air. Pilots must wait until all aircraft have landed prior to retrieving a downed aircraft.  This includes during practice. When retrieving an aircraft power it down as soon as it is retrieved.

FAILSAFE

Failsafes must be configured to stop the aircraft's motors in the event of a lost signal. Failsafes will be tested as part of the safety inspection.

PIT AREA

No flying in the pit area is permitted.  Do not power up in the pit area. If you need to test equipment between heats inform the race director before doing so

PILOT AREA

All pilots must fly from the pilot area.  Chairs marked with frequency numbers are provided if pilots wish to use them.  Only spotters and pilots are allowed in the pilot area during a race.

FREQUENCY MANAGEMENT

Pilots who intentionally power up in the pits, change their video transmission power, or do anything to interfere with another pilots video or control frequencies will be disqualified.

RACE SCHEDULE

The first round will start 30 minutes after the event start time to allow time for setup, safety inspections, pilot briefings.. Breaks will be provided between rounds as necessary. Each heat will start 2 minutes after the completion of the previous heat in the same round. Please have your equipment ready to go!

SETUP/TEARDOWN

All pilots are expected to help with either setup or teardown.  Setup will begin 1 hour before the scheduled event time.

RAINOUT

Weather related holds and stopages will be called at the race directors discretion.
